The dynamic of the First Christmas was that even for those who were prepared, the actual gift went beyond their expectations. It can still be that way. We move beyond mere holiday routine to seeing the gift of Jesus that surpasses our expectations.

What kinds of things do you say when you receive a gift that was more than you expected? This Advent/Christmas season we will be looking at different characters from the story surrounding the birth of Jesus and how they responded to a surprising gift. What do you expect from God this Christmas? How will Jesus renew a sense of wonder in your faith life as He goes beyond your Christmas expectations?
