School has begun, fall sports and school activities are in full swing, football is on TV, and we’ve even had our first morning frost. Fall is here, and there is lots to do! Scheduling can be a nightmare this time of year and fitting in Bible Studies and activities at church can at times feel no different. If you haven’t already, check out a recent article by a Living Water mom on the difficult challenge that is fall scheduling!
For the coming year, we are happy to have Sam Fink on board heading up youth ministry at ULC and Andrew Osborne on staff at St. Luke Ann Arbor. As a youth staff, we are looking forward to partnering with you as parents and teens to grow and nurture faith. We want to aid and empower your faith growth in the home by what we do at church. If there is a way we can partner with you better, please let us know!
We are excited about the opportunities we have coming up at the sites of St. Luke for our high schoolers and middle schoolers. Check out some of the different opportunities coming up to engage in youth ministry at your site:
Sunday Morning Bible Class is a place to grow in your faith through deep thought-provoking bible study. Class starts at 10:00am at ULC, 9:30am at St. Luke Ann Arbor and 9:00am at Living Water. Each site has its own offerings and teachers, so check in with your site youth leader for more info on what classes are being offered. Classes will be happening at all three sites this Sunday, September 15!
Evening youth nights are a place to have fun and hang out with friends while exploring some topical studies on scripture and life issues. We meet once per week, with middle schoolers (6th-8th grade) meeting on Wednesday nights from 6:30-8:00pm and High Schoolers meeting on Sunday nights from 6:30-9:00pm.
We have two regional locations to choose from, with Andrew Osborne leading the group at St. Luke Ann Arbor and Paul Easterday (me!) leading the group at The Dive in Whitmore Lake (Living Water’s youth room, located at 364 E Shore Drive, Whitmore Lake). Our first official night is Sunday, September 22 for high school and Wednesday, September 25 for middle school. Our Grand Opening all-site party will take place on Sunday, September 29 for high school and Wednesday, October 2 for middle school. The Grand Opening will be held at The Dive in Whitmore Lake, bus transportation will be available from St. Luke Ann Arbor at the regular time.
Our first regular evening Bible study series, titled “Cray cray Bible haps, so totes” (aka “Crazy things that happen in the Bible”) will start up right after the Grand Opening. You won’t want to miss it!
“We are looking forward to partnering with you as parents and teens to grow and nurture faith.”
Be on the lookout for other other opportunities coming up soon! Liz Delnay is leading a high school girls group on Wednesday evenings at St. Luke Ann Arbor. Spring Hill winter retreat sign up will start in October, Mexicali info meetings will be just around the corner, and our annual December Lock-in will take place December 6-7 and will be titled “Socially Acceptable” as we look at social media and its impact on our lives as Christians.
I am so blessed to be able to work with all of you, both parents and teens, to worship, grow and serve as a youth ministry and as a church. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact either myself or your site youth leader (Andrew at SLAA, Sam at ULC). We would love to talk!
