By Luke Renken, Confirmation Class of 2014
I waited patiently for the Lord; he turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the muck and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear the Lord and put their trust in him. Psalm 40:1-3
I believe that Jesus will lift me up and create a safe place for me to stay forever when I get stuck. Also, that He will help me see new ways to praise him.
Because Jesus is my savior, I trust I can live in a safe state of mind. All of this is possible because I was saved by Jesus when He sacrificed Himself for me when he died on the cross.
My response to being lifted out of the slimy pit is living with happiness and hope that Jesus will come to my rescue.
I believe that Jesus will lift me up and create a safe place for me to stay forever when I get stuck.
My confirmation verse challenges me to stay strong and hope and trust that Jesus will lift me up when I need it. This verse promises me that I have things to look forward to in life and that I’m worth saving, no matter how worthless I feel. I believe the promises of Jesus.
