John 8:12
Jesus said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
I chose this verse because, when I think of Jesus, I think of the light from a lighthouse. Just like the light from a lighthouse guides a ship to safety, I know when I follow Jesus I will always be safe and find my way. Like the light from a lighthouse, He helps me avoid difficult situations (crashing my ship). When I am lost or afraid, Jesus guides me, and helps me do the right thing. At dark moments Jesus’ light comforts me.
This verse reminds me that when life is rough, and I have a bad day, or get into trouble for something (rough waters), following Jesus’ light will always help me find my way and avoid even tougher situations. His light makes me feel better and gives me peace. Through His resurrection, I can trust that I will be happy, safe, and have eternal life.
