Let My People Go! – Sunday Worship

Lent begins with Ash Wednesday (Mar. 6) and so does our journey through Moses’s book called Exodus. We’ll walk through this important Old Testament book together beginning on Ash Wednesday and continuing on the Sundays of Lent and Holy Week.

In Exodus, Moses asks Pharaoh to let God’s people go seven times (Ex 5:1; 7:16; 8:1, 20; 9:1, 13; 10:3) and Pharaoh finally does it! When he does, God’s salvation is so amazing that the event becomes the Gospel of the Old Testament. Israel’s Scriptures mention the exodus 125 times!

Throughout the book of Exodus, God reveals who he is through his absence and his presence, through his silence and his speech, through his wrath and his mercy, and through his judgment and his amazing grace. In doing so, the book paints a beautiful portrait of Jesus.

A companion devotional booklet on the Exodus will be available to help shape and guide your weekly Lenten journey. Be sure to pick yours up at St. Luke and share one with a friend!

CrossWords – Midweek Worship

Join us for worship on Wednesdays, at 7 p.m., during Lent as we immerse ourselves in Jesus’ words of life spoken in the midst of death on the cross – his “crosswords.” Those words from the cross will be brought into focus each week through the crucifixion paintings of James Tissot (1836‒1902), a French artist who painted biblical scenes in the medium of opaque watercolor over graphite. We’re partnering with St. Paul Lutheran Church – Ann Arbor for this series, exchanging pastors for worship from one Wednesday to the next. We will NOT be offering a meal on Wednesdays during Lent.

Discipleship Hour

As we transition from the Red Letter Challenge into Lent, we also transition to new opportunities for Adult and Youth Discipleship Hour. Plan to join us in one of the following growth opportunities during Lent, from 9:45-10:45am.

  • Book of Exodus – This Bible study will dig deeper into the story and themes of Exodus. Book of Exodus is led by Phil Geyer and meets in Rooms 101-102.
  • Visual Exodus – This group will engage the story, themes, and theology of Exodus creatively through visual faith practices and relaxed conversation. Bring your Bible! Visual Exodus is led by Jennifer Hein and meets in Rooms 1 & 2 (lower level).
  • New Member Class – This class, led by Pastor Matt, serves as the pathway to official membership at St. Luke. It is open to anyone and is a great way to connect in relationships. New Member Class meets in the main office, staff conference room.
  • Financial Peace University – Financial Peace meets Tuesday evenings at Menlo Innovations, in downtown Ann Arbor, beginning March 19. Click here to register and learn more.
