Prayer for the Week

Jesus, you are the foundation and basis of our relationships. Encourage us with this promise: you are with us as we share life with one another.

Lord, your brokenness on the cross gives our broken relationships healing. Your unity with the Father makes us one. Your Spirit invites us into ongoing relationship with you and with one another.

Call us back whenever our own pride or fear or business get in the way of the encouraging relationships you intend for us. Work in us and through us so that, together, we might know and follow you.

Jesus, we cannot move forward except by your grace; be present in our relationships.

Amen.

Taking worship home

With a friend or family member talk about one or more of the following:

Share a major life event from your last 5 years AND from your next 5 years.

How did you spend time with your friends as a kid?

What kinds of things do you imagine Jesus did with his friends “just for fun?”

The job description for a follower of Jesus that shows up in our Mark lesson today is fairly simple: a) be with Jesus and b) be sent out by Jesus.

Which is easier for you to do, spend time receiving from Jesus or spend time doing something for Jesus?

Is Jesus inviting you to grow in either of those areas?

What promise from Jesus would you need to grow in that area?

Read the blog http://stlukeaa.org/patterns-of-belonging

Talk about these different patterns of belonging in your life right now.

Where does Jesus show up in your patterns of belonging?
