About a week ago we released a blog based on the book Think Orange. As part of that blog we asked two questions:

  1. Do church and family truly see each other as partners in discipleship?
  2. What would it look like for church and family to be operating from a shared strategy of discipleship?

Whatever your answers are to those questions, we want to work toward partnership and shared discipleship strategies between church and family. We believe that is what is about to take place during our 2014-2015 Confirmation process.

Confirmation SelfieAfter much conversation and prayer, we have put a new process in place for Confirmation that is discipleship focused and relationally driven. We want to partner with families during this Confirmation year to explore and learn Biblical content, receive tools for our discipleship journeys and develop the ability to use them, explore Spiritual disciplines, and connect faith to the natural rhythms of life. All of these will happen on the way toward young disciples affirming God’s action of grace in their baptisms and publicly professing their faith during the Rite of Confirmation. There is so much more to share and we are excited for what God will do in the life of His church and in the lives of families who participate and partner in our Confirmation process this year!

If you have a student going into 6th, 7th, or 8th grade this academic year, we want to invite your family to join us for an information meeting about the upcoming Confirmation process. There are three opportunities for you to attend and we ask that you come to one of them on the following dates:

  • Tuesday, July 22 (6:30pm) – The Dive (Whitmore Lake)
  • Wednesday, July 23 (6:00pm) – St. Luke-Ann Arbor
  • Sunday, July 27 (12:15pm) – University Lutheran Chapel

If you cannot make one of these dates/times, please contact Pastor Matt Hein to set up a time to receive more information.
