Our first Parent’s Night Out was held on Friday, October 9th. Thank you to the 60+ volunteers who made the evening a success! PNO is only able to function with the help of volunteers and new faces are always welcome! Many of the volunteers are from the local universities, so May and June can be difficult times to find enough volunteers as the students have gone home for the summer.
Parent’s Night Out is a FREE respite program for parents who have children with special needs. The program is offered from 6-9 p.m. on the first Friday from October-December, February, May & June and the 2nd Friday January, March, April at St. Luke Lutheran Church-Ann Arbor, MI.
Parents can enjoy an evening out while responsible volunteers care for their children. Siblings are also welcome and encouraged to come. Children enjoy activities such as open gym play, crafts, music, movie time, and snack.
All ages and ability levels welcome. Families need not be members of St. Luke to attend. For planning purposes, registration and an R.S.V.P. are required for each evening and space is limited to the first 25 children signed up.
We had a great time with the children who attended! We started the night out with time in the gymnasium with building, toys, games followed by a snack and pumpkin painting craft. We finished off the night with downtime and a movie.
