Peace I leave with you, my peace I give you. I don’t give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. John 14:27

I chose this verse for my confirmation because I believe that Jesus will give me hope and peace of mind. This peace is given by the Holy Spirit and Jesus the Son. A dove can symbolize the peace I have because of God. I can trust that I will be comforted in times of trouble and I will not be alone. Even when we, in our sinful human nature, deny Jesus and the works of the Holy Spirit, Jesus will not leave me to fend on my own which I cannot do alone.

In this verse, the main image is that I should not be troubled or afraid in rough times because of sin and Satan. Jesus helps me fight fear, sin, Satan, and anything else that could trouble me.

In this verse Jesus gives me peace and comforts me whenever I need him. I can always depend on this. I am challenged by this verse to trust in Jesus when I face challenges in my life.

Now, as I am graduating from 8th grade, I can be certain that I don’t have to worry about my future as an adult. I trust in Jesus as he helps me through the challenges of my future education.

This verse ends with Jesus leaving us when he goes to heaven but he gives us His peace and we are protected and loved by him. Jesus says in the following verses that he will be coming back. This gives me assurance that Jesus will come back to Earth to save all believers and keep His promise.
