The Elders of St Luke announced on May 12th that a call committee has been formed for our search for the position of Sr Pastor. The Elders have unanimously approved the following members to the call committee:
- Jim Sorgatz – Jim has graciously agreed to lead the call committee in its search. Jim’s broad experience in the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod will be a great asset to helping us navigate the process.
- Jarrod Cunnings – Jarrod is the Elder representative.
- Rebekah Young – Rebekah is our staff representative.
- Rev. Dr. Todd Jones – Member at Large
- John Nees – Member at Large
- Amy Magers – Member at Large
We believe each of these individuals are faithful to Christ, embody the mission and vision of St Luke; and prayerfully seek wisdom and discernment from the Lord on a regular basis. We would ask the congregation to join the elders in daily prayer for the call committees protection, for clarity in their decisions, and for the discernment of God’s will for St Luke.
We would like to thank all of you who have volunteered to help. It is refreshing and exciting to see the interest in helping us discern God’s next step for St Luke. We have chosen to keep the call committee to a size that can work with a sense of urgency, yet be knowledgeable in the process, and with the experience to ensure that we are prayerfully seeking God’s will through the process. If you have a name of a potential candidate you’d like to submit, you can contact Jim Sorgatz through Connect or you can fill out a form at the front desk.
One of our next steps will be to utilize a congregational survey provided by the Michigan District to help identify more about us as a congregation and our needs for a Sr Pastor. On May 26th and June 2nd, we will administer this survey during both services. The Michigan District of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod will analyze the survey and will be partnering with our call committee to provide input, suggestions, and names for consideration. We plan to have a congregational forum led by Rev. Dr. Rob Kasper from the District on Thursday, June 6, to discuss the results of the survey and next steps.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact an elder or the search committee.
Thank you for your faithful walk with us as members of St. Luke Lutheran Church.
