How sweet are Your words to my taste. Sweeter than honey to my mouth. Psalm 119:103
Thank goodness it’s Monday! TGIM? That’s not what we’re accustomed to hearing or saying! At Living Water we’re putting a new attitude into the start of the work week by introducing “Sweet Monday.”
“Sweet Monday” is a series of monthly meetings for women that emphasizes the importance of being connected to one another through Christ and sharing our passion for the sweet grace of a generous God!
A few months ago, musical artist and former St. Luke member, Don Wharton, paid a visit to Living Water to share a sermon of song with our community. He attracted many old friends who followed his tour schedule and welcomed him back to the state of Michigan. Don spoke about finding purpose in life and told us about Sweet Kim Newlan.
Kim founded the “Sweet Monday” organization in Richmond, Virgina because she wanted to connect women to each other and to Christ. In so doing, she coined the phrase “creative evangelism.” Her goal was to prevent busy women from feeling isolated and lonely.
Kim’s purpose carried her through a tough battle with breast cancer, which eventually claimed her life; but her legacy carries on throughout the country! Hundreds of Sweet Monday groups have launched in the past 20 years. As a result, the charm of Southern Christian Hospitality has spread far and wide along with the Good News of Jesus!
The Living Water Women’s Ministry team had already been planning their annual retreat in October and knew that it would be called “A Chocolate Life” based on the CPH devotion book by author/speaker Deb Burma. When we heard about “Sweet Monday,” it sounded like it would fit perfectly into our plan to bring women together during the summer months leading up to the retreat.
Whether it’s chocolate or some other decadent “comfort food,” we all want to savor the taste experience. So too with God’s amazing grace! We never tire of hearing about the goodness of God’s love and pray for His grace to be showered down in abundance. It gets us through the tough times!

Sweet Monday next meets on Monday, August 18 at the Woodland Ridge Clubhouse in South Lyon from 6:30 – 8 p.m. There is no RSVP required for Sweet Monday and nothing to prepare or bring. We will start with a game and a devotion. Then Sweet Cyndy Steward will share her passion for making decorative molded candies. Cyndy finds joy and delight in her hobby because it makes people happy, especially when they participate with her in the candy-making process.
Come and laugh, learn from others, enjoy a tasty chocolate-laden treat, and delight in the richness of God’s grace! Bring a friend so we can get to know new people! Invitations are available at Living Water or from Becky Majesky in the St. Luke office.
