New York Times best-selling author Ted Dekker stopped by St. Luke on his recent Outlaw Tour. Before he took the stage, Ted and I had a chance to talk some about God, faith, imagination, and following Jesus.
I really appreciated how his presentation echoed themes from several of his books without directly quoting or referencing any of them. The theme of identity and who we are in Christ permeated Dekker’s talk just as it runs through several of his novels.
It was great to see the St. Luke sanctuary filled with expectant Ted Dekker fans! But even more I enjoyed getting introduced to a man who is trying to know and follow Jesus a little better.
That quest to follow Jesus more closely comes out in personal conversation with Ted and in many ways, that quest seems to be the story behind the stories in Dekker’s novels. It’s no wonder he has sold more than 30 million copies of his books.
Here at St. Luke, we just finished up a book study on Dekker’s book Black. In January, we’re going to continue the series with a study of the book Red; think about reading Black over Christmas and joining us for Red in the new year!
