“Love is patient, love is kind, it does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude to others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongdoing. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies they will cease; where there are tongues they will be stilled; where there’s knowledge it will pass away.” 1st Corinthians 13:4-8
My faith image is Jesus and the lamb, which was created by Katherine Brown. My teacher used to have this picture and she would always take it out for chapel so I have probably seen it about a million times–but I have never really thought that much of it until now.…
When I was looking for a faith image I thought about how my teacher was always talking about how much the Shepherd loves the lamb, and how sometimes humans can be portrayed as the lamb and Jesus portrayed as the Shepherd. So I searched online for “pictures of Jesus and lambs” and up popped “Jesus and the Lamb” and it really stood out because you can see how much Jesus loves the lamb.
Jesus died for us and forgives us–no matter how despicable we are. See, you think that this verse is some advice to love one another, but it really is a verse that shows us what Jesus is doing for us. Jesus is the love that this verse is talking about.
But we as humans turn our backs away from God the Father and go our own way, which usually fails. And even after this Jesus and the Father still forgive us (and I know I’ve said that about a million times).
This verse is calling me to be a better person–with A LOT of help from the Holy Spirit. In conclusion this verse tells me that all you need is God’s love; and His love will always be there, for it never fails. My faith statement is love never fails, and compared to Jesus’s love everything else is nothing.
