As August races to meet September, students begin flocking to Ann Arbor to start the school year at one of the city’s universities. Here at University Lutheran Chapel, we are called to reach the university community with the love of Jesus Christ. It is our hope and prayer that during your time in college, we will be your “church home away from home.”
To the University of Michigan students, look for the Common Cup Coffeehouse at Taste of Michigan next Sunday, August 31. We’ll have free samples of our drinks and coupons. The Common Cup, located on our lower level, is a great place to study, have a bible study or just hang out. We will also be on the Diag on Tuesday, September 10, as we take part in Festifall. Be sure to look for us and will have tons of goodies to hand out.
To the Concordia students, we will be at Concordia Fest on Tuesday, August 27. We will have samples of Common Cup drinks and you can find out more about the Cup and the Chapel.
To all students, starting August 31, we will have brunch after the 9:00 service (mostly hymnal-based) and soup after the 11:00 service (mostly modern, band-led). This is a great time to get to know one another as well as our residents. Friday, September 12, will be our FREE Back to School BBQ. Bibles, Basketball & Beer (root or otherwise) happens on Tuesday nights, and we have guys and gals bible studies on Wednesday nights.
There will be Theology Pub Nights, Man Nights and Ladies’ Days. And then there’s Final Fix at the end of each semester, when we keep the entire building open until 2 am while you study for finals with free drip coffee and snacks all night long, culminated with a midnight made-to-order breakfast.
We are glad you are here. Let us know how we can serve you, or how you would like to serve. If you need anything or have any questions about the Chapel or the Cup, feel free to contact me (vminetola@stlukeaa.org), Deaconess Sara (smbielby@gmail.com) or the Common Cup manager, Pam (pamedickers@gmail.com).
