By Jeff Meyer, Vision Navigator

Your Vision Pathway Team invites you to join them on the journey as God’s Dream for St. Luke becomes clearer and clearer. Join the team for a highly engaging and deliberately inclusive process we are calling our Wet Cement Session. We are in the process of pouring the “vision concrete,” and we need your input and consideration before it sets. We’ll be meeting in the Great Room on Sunday, Feb. 26 after the one worship service at 9:45 a.m.

It has been so rewarding to work with St. Luke! Your Vision Pathway Team has already spent over 24 hours together with me over the last several months. They have been fun, thoughtful, dedicated, and creative. What a great group! God has blessed St. Luke with positive and skillful leadership for the journey ahead. The journey toward vision clarity is not an easy journey. It is not quick. True life-transforming vision cannot be microwaved. It is marinated and cooked slow. Thank you for your support, patience, and ownership in Jesus’ ministry at St. Luke.

Vision clarity has two components: clear identity and clear direction.

By clear identity I mean a contextual and catalytic description of your unique DNA. You are different from a thousand other churches. How will you define and describe that uniqueness? Clear “identity” comes from answering 4 questions:

  • What are we doing?
  • Why are we doing it?
  • How are we doing it?
  • When are we successful?

By clear direction I mean a contextual and catalytic plan of action moving toward a compelling and unifying picture of the future. Clear “direction” becomes clear by answering “Where is God taking us?”

I have facilitated this process in a dozen churches and ministry organizations over the past 8 years. I also lead a church in Madison, WI.  The process you are engaging in at St. Luke has shaped our ministry at the Church in Madison for the past 11 years. It works.

It is my honor to navigate this process at St. Luke. God is speaking, alive and active!

Now it’s your turn. We need your help. Your engagement in this process is crucial. We would love to share with you what we believe God has been showing us. Would you join us for a dynamic process of collaborative dialogue and sharing on February 26? It will be an awesome time. I promise it will be fun, interesting, and challenging.
