Theme Verse: Psalm 127:1
Proverbs as wisdom literature aren’t limited to the book of Proverbs. Our gem for today comes from one of the wisdom psalms, Psalm 127. This psalm helps put our hopes and aspirations for the future into the context of God’s work for us.
Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain.
Holy Gospel: Matthew 6:25-34
Jesus uses wisdom teaching to encourage trust in God for the future.
Focus:
What will the future hold? If you can answer that question, even in a somewhat reasonable way, you can make a lot of money! Though we have no solid answers, we still strive to know. In fact, we push answers. This only leads to more uncertainty. As the family of God, we hold on to what we know – whether the present or the future, all things belong to God.
